Dr Kathryn Amos
Dr Kathryn Amos is Head of School for the Australian School of Petroleum and Energy Resources, University of Adelaide, and a Deputy Director for the University of Adelaide Institute of Mineral and Energy Resources.
Her expertise is in sedimentology, with research focusing on understanding the controls behind processes of sediment transport and deposition in a range of environments. Dr Amos obtained her Phd from the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, UK. She was Associate Dean (Student Experience) for the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences from August 2018 to December 2019. In total, Dr Amos has secured $4million funding for research across 12 projects.
In July 2020, Kathryn won the South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) Exceptional Woman in Resources Award. The award celebrates the Dr Amos’ work to promote a positive perception of the mining and energy industry, through commitment to community engagement and development, contribution to gender diversity within the sector, or other sustainability initiatives.
