Overview
This webinar will provide information on the upcoming engineer registration scheme in Western Australia which commences on 1st of July 2024. We will provide an overview of the scheme, the timelines for registration in each area of engineering and the registration process itself. Registration of building engineers will be implemented in two stages:
- Registration of structural and fire safety building engineers will commence from 1 July 2024.
- Registration of civil and mechanical building engineers will commence from 1 July 2025.

About the speakers
Denis is an electrical engineer with a background in electronics manufacturing in both small and large Australian engineering businesses. Prior to joining Engineers Australia, Denis worked in management systems certification, business improvement and product certification for SAI Global, the largest certification body in Australia.
Susan emigrated to Australia in 1999 and spent 15 years in consulting engineering before joining Engineers Australia as the General Manager WA. Susan is also a Principal Engineer reporting to Engineers Australia’s Chief Engineer. She is Chair of the Curtin University Faculty of Science and Engineering Advisory Council and past Chair of the National Science Week WA Coordinating Committee.
Elizabeth is currently working to register building engineers in WA and will discuss the upcoming registration requirements, including:
- who needs to be registered and who doesn't.
- how and when to get registered in WA
- how mutual recognition applies
- the requirements for registered engineers in WA.
Elizabeth has qualifications in architecture and building surveying and has 20 years’ experience working in government policy and regulation.
